Title I Right to Know Letter

Right to Request Teacher Qualifications

Dear Hoover Families,

As a Title I school, we must follow federal regulations under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESEA), which give you the right to learn more about your child’s teachers’ training and professional qualifications.

At any time, you may request information regarding:

  • Whether your child’s teacher meets state certification requirements for the grade level and subject they are assigned to teach,
  • Whether the teacher is teaching under an emergency or conditional certificate, and
  • The teacher’s undergraduate or graduate degrees, certificates, and areas of concentration.

You may also request information about paraprofessionals who work with your child. If your child receives support from a paraprofessional, we will gladly share details about their qualifications.

In addition, if your child is taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher or served by a paraprofessional who does not meet the applicable Pennsylvania certification or licensure requirements, we will notify you directly.

Our staff is fully committed to ensuring your child develops the academic knowledge and critical thinking skills needed to succeed in school and beyond. That commitment includes making sure all teachers and paraprofessionals meet Pennsylvania’s certification requirements.

If you have any questions about your child’s assignment to a teacher or paraprofessional, please contact me (David Glennon) at Hoover Elementary School at (215) 809-6340.

Sincerely,

David S. Glennon, Ph.D.
